Liturgies

Sojourn Community Church, Midtown

This liturgy comes from the Sunday service on September 9, 2018 at Sojourn Community Church, Midtown in Louisville, KY.

Call to Worship

Psalm 147:1-3
Praise the LORD!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the outcasts of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.

Sing and Shout by Mhondera, Redman, and Weeks

Bless the Lord (Son of Man) by Tribbett and G.A.

CONFESSION

Psalm 25:6-8,11,16-18
Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindness,
For they have been from of old.

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me,

For the sake of Your goodness, O Lord.

For the sake of Your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am alone and afflicted.

The distresses of my heart increase;
bring me out of my sufferings.
Consider my affliction and trouble,
and take away all my sins.

All I Have Is Christ by Kauflin

ASSURANCE

Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever, but delight to show mercy.
You will again have compassion on us; You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

God delights to show mercy and as believers we can testify today of a God that hasn’t left us. He meets our deepest need for salvation and yet also promises to meet all of our needs. So as we transition into our time of giving let’s be encouraged and reminded of God’s continued faithfulness in our lives, and give generously with cheerful and grateful hearts.
