Pastoral Prayer of Invocation

Sermon Text Scripture Reading: John 13:31-35 (ESV)
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Father, Long Before Creation by Osenga/Jones

Responsive Reading
     Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God.
Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God.
The peace that Christ gives is to guide us in the decisions we make,
for it is to this peace that God has called us together into one body.
With his own body he broke down the walls of separation.
By his death on the cross Christ destroyed our divisions.
Jesus Christ, life of the world and of all creation,
forgive our separation and grant us peace and unity.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
to him who alone does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
