Prelude: My Maker and My King

Call to Worship:
So many things in this world battle for our heart’s affections. We easily find ourselves depending on things that have little power and can’t fulfill our deepest longings. Hear this from God’s Word:

Let all that I am praise the Lord.
I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
Joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.

-       Based on Psalm 146

Let’s lift our voices and praise our Almighty Lord!

Song: Praise to the Lord the Almighty

Confession: Let’s pray together:

Father God, we come before you today and confess that we often seek to establish our own righteousness rather than rest in your grace. We confess that we consistently neglect your free gift and, by our deeds, attempt to justify ourselves. Yet you tell us that our best attempts are regarded as filthy rags to you.

Lord, help us to rest in and rely on your grace, boasting only in the salvation found in Christ.

- Isaiah 64:6, Romans 10:3

Let’s use the words of this next song to continue our time of confession.

Song: I Boast No More

Song: Jesus Paid It All

Let’s continue to thank God by saying this aloud:

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.                                                                                                                 -1 Peter 1:3-4a

Jesus gives us new birth and a living hope not to keep to ourselves but to share with one another. Let’s greet each other with that peace today.

Song: Only Jesus

But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.                                                                               -Acts 20:24

Song: Cling to the Crucified (Straight Rock Version)

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Go in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.

-Ephesians 3:20-21
